Beautiful Virginia. I was invited to enjoy a weekend getaway with family and friends at a Lake house in Virginia this weekend. I've never been to a lake house so I really didn't know what to expect. My sister sent me a picture with very convincing evidence of summer fun and that was enough to pull me out of the house and back on the road.
I drove down with another sis of mine, aka our Doc Mcstuffins and my baby girl. We drove towards the 495 south and were on our way to another adventure. This wonderful lake house was located in a huge estate called Lake Caroline. Of course driving down from Maryland to Virginia on a Saturday morning was all traffic traffic traffic but luckily we left home at 9am and got to Lake Caroline at 11am. Apparently it takes longer if you don't leave really early but we only faced bad traffic in the last 30 minutes of our drive.
We arrived and were immediately ready for the lake. It was a beautiful sunny day and lots of families were on boats and jet skis enjoying the scenery. My little one decided to try out some fishing and she had good training from her well experienced trainer.
Who says girls are scared of worms. Not my little girl :)
I got to row in a canoe for the first time, I think that was the best part of my lake experience. I always wondered what that would be like and it was perfect, I can still feel my muscles growing from paddling.
I got to go on a jet ski for the first time as well. It was a crazy thrill. I don't usually like rides at parks and this was very similar but I seemed to enjoy the rush. The wind on my face, the speed I could not control thanks to my friend, it was just new found fun I surprisingly enjoyed.
Someone got to swim in the lake as well.
When we were done exploring the lake, I decided to take my daughter to the huge trampoline.
It was getting late and the rain was coming in so my little one played Uno inside & watched some good old disney cartoons while I sat on the balcony watching the rain drops on the lake. Tranquil moment! Wouldn't trade it for the world.
I almost didn't want the day to end. It was such a great idea to come down to the lake house, it felt like I was one with nature. Felt more refreshed, relaxed and brand new at the end of the day.
